Chesapeake Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Ordinary Citizens Trained To Be Extraordinary Volunteers

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

CERT Train the Trainer
DATE: 28 & 29 April 2012     
LOCATION: Newport News

TIME: 0830 start

If you have desire to assist with training and to get further involved in CERT, then the CERT Train-The-Trainer Course is a MUST!

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is offering a CERT T-t-T in Newport News on April 28 and 29 at the South Morrison Family Education Center located on 746 Adams Drive beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. If you have any CERT volunteers or staff that need this training or would like to refresh their skills, please direct them to the VDEM Knowledge Center to enroll in this course.
