Chesapeake Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Ordinary Citizens Trained To Be Extraordinary Volunteers

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Rather than doing a class for the December Pot Luck & Learn, we will be having a Holiday Party / Awards Ceremony Pot Luck Event!  We are asking ALL CERT members to please come out and join us to celebrate the holidays and recognize members of CERT for their volunteering.  This year marks the 10th anniversary of CERT, and we will be honoring those that have helped develop and grow this program.  So please come out and join the fun, no matter how long you have been with the team.  Bring a dish and enjoy the event- we will be giving out awards, having a slide show and doing a 50/50 raffle.  Who knows, you just might win an award or prize!
VOLUNTEER EVENTS:

Event:		 2011 Christmas Parade
Day/Date: Saturday, December 3rd   
Place: Parade Staging Site on Mt Pleasant Road.  For details see link below.
Time: 2:30 PM if you'dliek tohelp wth staging
5:15 PMif you'd like to mach in he parade

Lineup Volunteers

-          approx. 2:30pm                                             

-          grey CERT shirt, CERT Vest, weather appropriate jacket / attire, jeans or kaki’s, appropriate shoes

-          Park at the parade staging site off Mount Pleasant Road

 

Parade Volunteers

-          no later than 5:30pm

-          Grey CERT shirt, CERT Vest, CERT Helmet, weather appropriate jacket / attire, jeans or kaki’s, appropriate shoes

-          You must park in the event parking areas and walk to the parade staging area.  You can also be dropped off at the staging area and be picked up at the disbanding area
